{"id":1474,"date":"2025-11-01T14:09:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T18:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.decentralnetwork.org\/news\/?p=1474"},"modified":"2025-11-03T03:59:26","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T08:59:26","slug":"michael-saylor-says-strategy-bitcoin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.decentralnetwork.org\/news\/michael-saylor-says-strategy-bitcoin\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Saylor Says Strategy Won\u2019t Buy Other Bitcoin Treasury Firms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Michael Saylor, the outspoken Bitcoin advocate and chairman of <strong>Strategy<\/strong>, said the company isn\u2019t planning to buy out other digital asset treasury firms (DATs) anytime soon \u2014 even if it might seem profitable.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking during the company\u2019s Q3 earnings call on Thursday, Saylor made it clear that mergers and acquisitions aren\u2019t on Strategy\u2019s radar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe don&#8217;t have any plans to pursue M&amp;A activity, even if it might look accretive,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s just a lot of uncertainty, and these things tend to drag out six to nine months or even a year.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_J._Saylor\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_J._Saylor\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael Saylor<\/a>, who holds a <strong>9.9% stake<\/strong> in the Bitcoin-focused firm, emphasized that Strategy\u2019s priority remains strengthening its own position as the world\u2019s largest Bitcoin-holding company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Profitable Quarter Amid Stock Slump<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company reported its <strong>second straight quarter of strong profits<\/strong>, despite recent struggles in its stock price. Shares have fallen more than <strong>40% since July\u2019s high of $457.22<\/strong>, though they are still up significantly compared to their 2020 levels when the stock traded around $12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of <strong>October 31<\/strong>, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) holds <strong>around 640,000 BTC<\/strong>, valued at roughly <strong>$70 billion<\/strong>, maintaining its dominance among public Bitcoin treasuries. Since it started accumulating Bitcoin in 2020, the firm has become a bellwether for institutional crypto exposure \u2014 thriving in bull markets and weathering crypto\u2019s sharp downturns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DATs: A Growing Market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Digital asset treasuries, or <strong>DATs<\/strong>, are companies that accumulate Bitcoin (BTC) and other crypto assets like Ether (ETH) to give investors indirect exposure to crypto without needing to buy coins themselves. These companies have become popular among institutional investors who can\u2019t hold crypto directly due to compliance rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike exchange-traded funds (ETFs), DATs don\u2019t have a built-in mechanism to match their share prices with the value of the crypto they hold, which often causes pricing gaps. However, the rise of <strong>Bitcoin and Ether ETFs<\/strong> has started to reshape the investment landscape. Earlier this year, <strong>BlackRock\u2019s Bitcoin ETF (IBIT)<\/strong> became the firm\u2019s most profitable fund, and U.S. regulators recently approved several <strong>altcoin spot ETFs<\/strong> for Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), and Hedera (HBAR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <strong>Bitcointreasuries.net<\/strong>, there are now <strong>over 200 publicly listed DATs<\/strong> \u2014 double the number at the start of 2024 \u2014 collectively holding more than <strong>1 million BTC<\/strong> (worth about <strong>$116 billion<\/strong>), or roughly <strong>5% of Bitcoin\u2019s total supply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No Consolidation \u2014 Yet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this year, Standard Chartered analyst <strong>Geoff Kendrick<\/strong> suggested large DATs like Strategy might start acquiring smaller ones to boost their holdings at a discount. He pointed to falling valuation ratios across the sector as a possible trigger for M&amp;A activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But so far, Michael Saylor has shown no interest in following that playbook.
