Instead, he said it&#8217;s about using <strong>blockchain technology<\/strong> to improve everyday life for New Yorkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe want to use the technology of tomorrow to solve the problems of today,\u201d Adams said. \u201cCrypto isn\u2019t just an investment. It\u2019s about access, opportunity, and growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The mayor and <strong>New York City CTO Matthew Fraser<\/strong> highlighted potential uses of blockchain for managing sensitive records, such as <strong>birth and death certificates<\/strong>, by making them secure yet accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fraser also said the city is exploring ways to let residents pay for <strong>government services and taxes using crypto<\/strong>\u2014an idea aimed at supporting New Yorkers who don\u2019t have access to traditional banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis is not just innovation\u2014it\u2019s survival,\u201d Fraser said. \u201cIf we don\u2019t adapt, we get left behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A New Chapter for Crypto in New York<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The NYC Crypto Summit marked a fresh start for the <strong>digital assets industry<\/strong> in a city that has often been cautious about cryptocurrency. In his speech, Adams praised crypto supporters for staying strong despite years of criticism and regulatory pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou were treated like outsiders,\u201d Adams said. \u201cBut you stood firm. Now, it\u2019s your time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Calling himself the &#8220;Captain Kirk&#8221; of this new journey, the mayor said he&#8217;s looking for tech experts and innovators to help guide the city through its crypto transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants at the summit broke into small discussion groups after the speech, offering their ideas and concerns. The mayor, now running as an <strong>independent<\/strong>, has aligned himself with several of the president\u2019s <strong>crypto policies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, a <strong>federal corruption investigation<\/strong> against Adams was dropped by the Justice Department.
