Ripple Flags Surge in Fake Telegram Scam Accounts

Crypto payments company Ripple has issued a fresh warning to its community as scam activity rises on Telegram. The company says fraudsters are increasingly creating fake accounts that impersonate Ripple and its team members in an attempt to trick unsuspecting users.

In a recent alert, Ripple clarified that it does not operate any official Telegram channel for customer support or communication. This means any account claiming to represent Ripple on Telegram is fake and should be treated as a potential scam.

Fake Profiles Target XRP Community

According to Ripple’s developer arm, RippleX, impersonators are setting up accounts posing as recruiters, support agents, or company representatives. These scammers often go to great lengths to appear legitimate—using official branding, logos, and even photos of CEO Brad Garlinghouse to build trust.

In many cases, victims are contacted directly and encouraged to engage in conversations that eventually lead to requests for funds or sensitive information.

Ripple has strongly emphasized that it will never:

  • Reach out to users via Telegram for support
  • Ask for passwords, private keys, or personal data
  • Request payments or crypto transfers

The company reiterated this message publicly, stating that any Telegram account claiming to be official is not legitimate.

Common Scam Tactics

These scams often follow familiar patterns seen across the crypto space. One of the most common tricks involves fake XRP giveaways. Scammers promote these offers using edited or recycled videos from Ripple events or media appearances, making them look authentic.

Users are typically asked to send a small amount of crypto in exchange for a larger reward that never arrives. In other cases, victims are directed to fraudulent websites or wallet addresses, where their funds can be stolen instantly.

Growth Brings New Risks

Despite the increase in scam activity, the XRP ecosystem continues to expand. The XRP Ledger has now surpassed 7.7 million holders, reflecting growing adoption and interest.

However, this rapid growth also attracts bad actors looking to exploit new users entering the market.

Stay Alert and Verify

Ripple is urging its community to remain cautious and verify any communication through official channels only. If an offer or message seems suspicious—especially on platforms like Telegram—it’s best to ignore it.

As crypto adoption rises, so do scams. Ripple’s latest warning serves as a reminder that staying informed and vigilant is key to protecting your digital assets.
